Almost Done – Part 2

Rick and I stopped by the house over the weekend.  This is the mudroom / laundry.  It is a little sad how excited I am to have a new washer and dryer.

Almost Done - Kitchen

Rick and I stopped by the house over the weekend.  This is the kitchen update.  The appliances have been delivered but not fully installed….. yet.

IMG_5214

The Vent-a-hood will be getting much use soon.

IMG_5215

counter top microwave without taking counter space.  After the little house and our current rental, we won’t know what to do with all this counter space.  This should be a nice feature in the future if the microwave goes out it is easy to slide in a new one.

Dish washer is not quite completely installed.

Master Bedroom and Bathroom

Great progress this week on the house.  The master bedroom and bathroom are getting closer to complete.  Not sure why, but a few of the pictures have a yellow cast to them.

The plumber is not quite done installing the tub fixtures.  I can NOT wait to use the tub.

IMG_5197

The counter top, sinks, and faucets are in.  The light fixtures are installed too, but that did not quite make it into the picture.  The mirror for over the sinks is sitting in the garage in a cardboard box ready to be installed.

IMG_5196

The shower door is hanging out with the mirrors in the garage waiting to be installed.  The one tile square on the left was just re-grouted.  When the grout dries it will look the same as the rest of the wall.

The beginnings of my shoe rack.

The master bedroom fireplace mantel is complete.  The slate hearth still needs to be attached to the backer board.

Stairs & Railing

We used a prefinished hardwood for the stairs that coordinates with the laminate imitation hardwood floor in most of the house.

The railing is completed.  View from great room.

Master Bath

The master bathroom tile is installed.  After the tile work is completed they will put the soaking tub back in place.

When Rick and I went to Germany almost 2 years ago we visited the town of Baden-Baden, with multiple thermal baths.  (this is the one we visited Caracalla Therme)  Within a reasonable budget I am attempting to give our master bathroom what I can a "roman bath" feel, with travertine looking tile and broken travertine accents and warm yellow walls and dark wood cabinets.  It is beginning to come together...

Cabinet Installation

They are making progress getting the cabinets installed.

The range will fit between the two base cabinets.  We did 2 large drawers on the bottom for pots and pans and a smaller drawer on top for cooking utensils.  Hopefully this proves to be a good work space.

IMG_5043

The smaller cabinets at the very top will have frosted glass.

IMG_5029

All the windows on the main level and this one on the stair landing have a full wood wrap.  I do not want to cover up the wood work with window coverings.  Rick and I are single handedly keeping the wood products industry afloat in Oregon.  he he he.....

Cabinets and Interior Doors

The cabinets were delivered and will be installed this week.  The kitchen and all the bathrooms have the same cabinet style.  I can't wait to move in!  It is getting closer.

This is in the kitchen with the tile flooring.

MYDC0017

It is starting to come together.  The cabinets in the left of the picture will be finished on the backside and it will have a raised bar to help block the dirty dishes from the living room while maintaining an open floor plan.

MYDC0027

This is a solution the builder came up with that I think will work out nicely.  The cabinet below (which the stained interior) is designed to hold the microwave, with a drawer below.

MYDC0018

Rick's office is full of cabinet door fronts and drawers, and shelving.

MYDC0016

This is the pull (I just placed it against the door front) for the master and hall bath.

MYDC0021

The doors for downstairs arrived this week also.  The doors looks awesome.  Rick and I are tempted to ask how much it would be to upgrade the doors upstairs too.

MYDC0012

Coming in for her close up.

MYDC0013

The doors with the molding and flooring.

MYDC0026Don't get me wrong the upstairs doors do not look bad, just not as lovely at the wood doors (example: upstairs hall linen closet).

Exterior Paint Completed

The exterior painting is done.  The wood posts need to be wrapped, a little landscaping and the front will be done.

Exterior

The exterior is getting closer to complete.  The garage door will be painted the same as the main house color.  Scott (the builder) selected the exterior colors.  He did a much better job then I did selecting exterior colors.  Thank you Scott!

Tile

They have began laying out the tile pattern for the entry.  The entry, kitchen, and laundry/mud room have the same tile.

IMG_4897

IMG_4902

The laundry/mud  room is farther along then the entry, but it is not a complicated a pattern.

IMG_4898

The upstairs hall bath tile appears ready for grout.

IMG_4881

Exterior

The rock accent is up on the front exterior of the house.

IMG_4872

IMG_4871

This is the final selection of exterior body and trim color.  Selecting the exterior paint color has been more difficult then I anticipated.

IMG_4886

I think this body and trim color will look good with the rock and shake accents.
