Main Floor

Rick and I visited the house Saturday (2/21/09). I am walking the plank up to the future front door.

This picture is from the entry. The boards are blocking the opening for the basement stairs. A board is also covering the opening for the sliding glass door out the back.

LOOK at the size of this beam! I would guess 18 inches. The framing has not started on the vaulted ceiling yet.

I am standing in Rick's office. He will have a nice large window out the front.

Main Floor Framing

Rick took this picture today (2/19/09).  They are framing the first floor.  Starting at the left, Rick's office window, front door, the utility room is framed but does not have sheeting, and in the very back right is the storage area.

More Framing

Rick took this picture Friday afternoon, Feb 13, 2009.  The framing for the basement is started now on to the main floor.  The very right edge of the picture the flooring grade is a little lower, this the storage area of the garage.  The garage and the storage area will be the same level.  The garage will be about 5 steps lower then the main floor of the house.  Not how the house plan was designed, but a reasonable adjustment to accommodate the topography of the property.

This photo is from Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009.  You can start to see our main floor is going to be at about our (westerly) neighbors roof line.  It is difficult to explain the grade and topography of the lot and neighborhood.  Let's just say the neighborhood is called Hillsdale for a reason. :-)

It looks like Scott (builder) has began adding rock for the garage floor.

This photo is from Saturday too.  You can see our main floor will be a little lower then the (easterly) neighbor.  I wanted to walk on the sub-flooring, but thought it was probably not the safest things for me to do, and 2 it's was muddy to get to it and I didn't want to get my shoes dirty. :-)

This corner is where Rick's office will be.

Framing

Now the foundation is visible and the framing has began.

You can see the daylight or walk out basement framing.  We will leave the basement unfinished for now.  You may notice a gap in the framing out the back.  The builder did this on purpose to make it easier in the future for us to add a sliding glass door.  I never even thought to ask for that.  Great idea Scott (builder), thanks!

The Foundation is Done!

The crew is taking the forms down and you can begin to see the foundation.

I think they are using water from the neighbors to test the sewer lines.
